Pantothenic acid (vitamin B₅) promotes normal carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism. Pantothenic acid, found primarily in the liver, kidneys and heart, supports normal acetylcholine production, energy production, and fatty acid synthesis. Recent research indicates that pantothenic acid helps to maintain the natural barrier of the skin by promoting the growth of skin cells via keratinocyte growth factor production. Pantothenic acid also promotes hydration of the epidermal skin layer.
